Years ago, Tandy had complete saddle kits, (2) but alas times have changed and
they don't offer them any more. I saw one on ebay, but who knows what the leather
would be like after all these years. I like others wish they would bring them back
along with some of the great patterns, Craftaids etc...Hank

The other half is money. Buying the sides, the saddle tree, and all the hardware...well, that is more than my pocket book can handle for a while. But someday I'll get there.

I kept putting it off doing little projects like purses, wallets, belts and such. After making about 50 items both from kits and from scratch (I ran out of people to give things to) I decided ready or not it was time. You might want to consider the same. While I am finishing the last of the stitching and lacing on this seat it has been a challenge and I made enough mistakes that I know I will make another attempt but I learned alot while doing this one.If you have the books and vids you might want to throw caution to the wind and go for it.I too have hopes of making my own saddle some day.
