Ah, maybe I misunderstood. My ex-wife is from Mexico and she had a
brother named José Luís. He was called "José Luís" never just "José" or
just "Luís" and his nickname was Guicho so I somehow got the idea that
it was a nickname for José Luís. No one here in Perú ever heard of
Guicho nor of Chui (Jesus), but they do use Chela for Graciela.
It seems to me that I've seen a lot of carved leather items made in
Mexico, so I would never have thought it would be so difficult to find
Spanish names for the products and processes used in leather work.
