Re: [flasah] Plywood

Dale;

Hank gave you good advice. There are numerous fastening options.

On the internet go to Rockler, Woodcraft or Woodworkers Hardware Supply

I have no idea what tools you have at your disposal. Most of the top quality glues like a Titebond II will hold a joint better than the wood itself.

Remeber plywood is just thin sheets of wood piled on top of each other alternating going East-West and then the next sheet going North to South and so forth. It makes for a very strong board but not much holding strength for screws. If you could make your frames out of a very inexpensive hardwood such as poplar and the your surfaces out of plywood then you could get the best of both worlds.

Dale, wood screws work better with solid wood. If possible, use small bolts,
washers and nuts...Hank

I know a lot of you guys also are pretty handy with woodwork and thought
someone here could probably answer my question. I know screws don't
work so well with particle board, but am wondering if they are OK to use
on plywood. Any ideas?

I'm trying to design a console for the top of my desk to hold my leather
tools.

I have found an amazing computer program that is very easy to use that
allows me to draw these things in 3D and the drawings can be rotated a
full 360 degrees in all directions. It is called Google Sketch-Up...
and it's free. There is also a pro version one must pay for, but I
don't find the free version to be what I would call "crippled."
