I'm not sure which model Springfield Leather Co has but I've used the
LSZ-1 with the monster flywheel for sewing wallets and purses using 69 and
96 thread, I haven't used the 138 yet.
For anything over 5oz veg tan I sew with the Tippman Boss or hand stitch.
I've had the Sailrite LSZ-1 for 5 years now and love it. The newest
Sailrite's have a much improved positive lock clutch system and the latest
catalog shows some great prices on the machines (both straight stitch and
zig zag (LS-1 & LSZ-1) with the monster flywheel and other accessories. You
